Jardin de Rio Froment

19th-century garden, woodland walk, English garden, "remarkable" trees

The Rio Froment garden surrounds a château built in the 19th century at the top of the Sillon de Bretagne, overlooking the Loire estuary. The original features of this garden are still visible: a long side path, a south-facing English-style ornamental garden, a small wooded walkway, a vegetable garden, a rose garden, a vineyard, etc. There are also some remarkable trees. These include a cedar of Lebanon planted in the 19th century and several Japanese cedars. Finally, a superb metal greenhouse is attached to the south facade of the château.

This private garden is exceptionally open to the general public during the European Heritage Days and the Rendez-vous in the Gardens.
