Paddleboarding: how about walking (or almost walking) on water with your family?

Stand-up paddling has been growing in popularity for several years now. It's a gentle gliding activity that lets you experience your first sensations on a board. Paddleboarding is also a great way to discover unique ecosystems. It offers a privileged nature-watching experience, often with the feeling of being alone in the world to enjoy a natural setting of outstanding beauty.

Good to know: this activity is available from age 6.

How does a stand-up paddle session work?

Stand-up paddling can be practised on the sea as well as on the river! When you arrive at the nautical school, you'll be surprised to find that stand-up paddle boards are wider and thicker than surfboards. This makes them more stable. Your instructor will provide you with a board and paddle adapted to your size and shape.

For your part, you'll need to wear a bathing suit, cap, sunglasses and sun cream if the sun is out.

The state-qualified "Vogue et Vague" instructor will brief you on your discovery session. The spot to be discovered offers all the conditions necessary for a peaceful initiation, without too much current.

You'll learn to stand up quietly and then balance on the board. Enthusiastic instructors will take the time to teach you the correct paddling gestures. Once everyone is comfortable with the basics, you're ready to get out on the water.

What a gentle gliding sensation! As the ride progresses, everyone has fun taking the lead and setting their own tempo.

Tip: At La Tranche-sur-Mer, on the shores of the Bay of La Baule and at Saint-Martin de la Place, you can also try out the "big paddle" or "giant paddle". Your craft is a huge board on which you can hold up to 10 people! Laughter guaranteed on this fun family craft. Ages 6 and up.

What equipment do I need for stand-up paddling?

A paddle board and a paddle are the two essential accessories. Vogue et Vague" instructors will provide them for the duration of your session. Life jackets are also available.
