Sur la Via Turniacensis
The village of Maisoncelles, described as a street village, was built in a linear fashion along the axis linking Bouloire to Tresson and Écorpain, perpendicular to the Étangsort stream. Although difficult to date precisely, the imposing Notre Dame church, which may date back to the Romanesque period, is without doubt the oldest building in the village. You will, however, be able to see the rural amenities typical of the Third Republic, such as the public pump at the foot of the church. Heading towards the cemetery, on the right you'll see the former communal wash-house, recently converted to accommodate walkers, and further up, a former school, identifiable by its single-storey structure and brick frames.
