Randonnée "Bornéo"
Make the most of your day to explore the steep paths of Roussay and its small heritage site between Nantes and Cholet.
Take this walk to discover the landscapes surrounding Roussay. Between fields and forests, the paths will lead you to the rich heritage scattered around the village.Initially, in the heart of the village, you'll come across the remnants of the industrial past that has left such a deep mark on the town centre: workers' houses, the homes of factory owners and old factories dot the route.
Along the way, take in the local heritage, including the Turmelière and Humeau chapels, the Grotte de Lourdes and the old Normandeau water mill.
But why Borneo? The island of Borneo conjures up images of tropical forests and white sandy beaches... So what's the link with our Mauges bocage? In reality, Borneo was once the name given to a section of this path. It may be a distortion of the word bornage, as this section marks the "border" between Torfou and Montfaucon-Montigné.
