SENTIER DES BELLES CONTRÉES
From the pond at Clégreuc to the forest at Le Gâvre, take a walk along this scenic trail.
To begin this walk, head for the car park at Etang de Clégreuc in Vay, a pond where the wind ruffles the feathers of the birds!Take the time to take a break in this green setting, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area in the Loire-Atlantique region, to observe the birds that come here to nest.
This island of greenery features a mosaic of environments home to rare species of flora and fauna, where you can see almost all the birds of the Loire-Atlantique region, including one extremely rare species: the bittern!
Along the way, you may be lucky enough to come across an alpine newt, a red-legged frog or a European otter. And as for the flora, there are a number of remarkable species to be found here, such as swimming flute, common gratiola and king pepper.
Once you've left the pond and its water mill, head into the heart of the Gâvre forest, the largest state-owned forest in Brittany, for a walk punctuated by the rustle of your footsteps on the carpet of dead leaves and the song of the birds perched on the hundred-year-old trees. Treat yourself to a rejuvenating walk in the heart of the wilderness and the cool undergrowth. You might even be lucky enough to see a deer bellow or pick up ceps, boletus and other delicious mushrooms.
