The village of Courcemont developed as a result of medieval land clearance. In this context, before 1106, the church was entrusted by laymen to the Abbey of Saint-Vincent du Mans, which founded a priory. The parish, like that of Sables, from which it is separated by the Coëslon stream, was under the control of the Davière seigneury at the time of the French Revolution. Courcemont included other seigneurial lands such as Vissay (which belonged to the Chapter of Le Mans Cathedral until the 18th century), La Cénerie and Le Chesnay, where the manor house, castle and other buildings still stand, bearing witness to the former importance of these places. The village of Courcemont maintained an essentially agricultural economy until the 20th century.A pleasant hiking trail offering beautiful sunken paths and panoramic views. You can join the communes of Beaufay or Mézières for a full-day hike or a touring holiday.
