La Troglo

Interested in a troglodyte holiday with family or friends? Then welcome to the Gîte "La Troglo", a house carved out of falun stone, with a capacity of 5 people, for an unusual stay in Doué-en-Anjou.

Enjoy a unique experience by staying in a traditional Douessin cave dwelling. Just 20 minutes from Saumur and the banks of the Loire, this former farmhouse, carved into the rock, has been fully renovated to showcase this distinctive heritage. Nestled in lush greenery, the gîte offers peace, privacy and a complete change of scenery, with no neighbours opposite.

Access to the courtyard is via a staircase of around fifteen steps lined with plants. Entirely cave-like and on one level, this unusual 80 m² gîte offers a warm atmosphere combining authenticity with modern comfort. The living area comprises a fitted kitchen opening onto the lounge with a television. Two doors provide direct access to the courtyard and the terrace.

The first bedroom, accessible from the living room, has a 160x200 cm bed and a 90x200 cm bed. It does not have a window opening onto the outside but features an air ventilation system. A corridor also leading outside leads to the second bedroom, which is fitted with two 90x200 cm beds, a washbasin and a walk-in shower. A separate shower room and a separate toilet complete the property.

Outside, enjoy a south-facing wooden terrace, built into the falun rock, with garden furniture, deckchairs, sun loungers and a barbecue. The outdoor area is enclosed, ideal for young children or pets. In a cave cellar, a table tennis table and a dartboard are available.

The gîte is ideally situated for exploring the region. The Doué-la-Fontaine Bioparc is just one kilometre away, a 10-minute walk. History buffs can visit the Mystère des Faluns or the troglodyte village of Louresse-Rochemenier. Just 20 minutes away, Saumur boasts its castle and the famous Cadre Noir de Saumur. Angers is a 40-minute drive away.

Situated in the heart of the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Nature Park and surrounded by the Layon vineyards, the gîte allows you to fully enjoy the gentle charm of the Anjou region. A shopping centre for everyday shopping is 1.6 km away.

Each room has a ventilation system. Limited mobile coverage inside the gîte but good outside. Wi-Fi available. Electric car charging point with a high-power socket in the private car park. Baby equipment available on request, including a cot, high chair and baby bath. Bed linen provided with beds made on arrival.
