Gîte du Château de Vaux

Stay in this seigniorial building dating from 1300, rebuilt in 1821.

Just a few minutes from the motorway exits but in the heart of the Anjou countryside, come and stay at Château de Vaux, an exceptional 14th and 18th century heritage site entirely surrounded by moats.

Château de Vaux has been in the family since 1750, and the owners are opening their doors to offer you a wonderful experience, as well as contributing to the conservation of this listed building.

The gîte has 4 bedrooms for 8 people, a large living room, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, shower room and bathroom, all on three floors and 200 m². The gîte also has a private terrace and a reserved driveway.

Tennis courts and a grand piano are also available.

Beds are made up with cotton sheets and towels are provided. Cleaning is included and a deposit is required.

Due to the internal layout of the house inside the château, the gîte is unfortunately not accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The current château was rebuilt in 1821 by the architect Desnoyers on the cellars of a former 14th century château. At the time, the medieval dwelling was surrounded by an enclosing wall with pepper-pot towers; part of the fortifications, the entrance châtelet and three pepper-pot towers still bear witness to this period. You can also still admire a remarkable "relics" chapel built in 1298 and dedicated to Saint-Georges, and enhanced in 1510.

The site and in particular the chapel are open to visitors from 1 to 13 July and from 19 August to 22 September, as well as during the European Heritage Days.

The gîte is just a few kilometres from the small town of Seiches-sur-le-Loir and from junction 12 of the A11 and A85 motorways, giving easy access to a host of famous places and activities: Angers is just twenty minutes away, Le Mans and Saumur forty minutes.
