CAMPING LES CHAUMES

This campsite was created in 1971, in the purest tradition of farm campsites. Since then, two stars have been added to its name and whilst the equipment and services have been upgraded, the campsite has retained its authenticity. This is partly thanks to the owner’s family, of which Thierry is now the third generation. You can rely on his warm welcome and assistance.

Camping les Chaumes promises calm and relaxation. It’s a reasonably sized, compact site without endless paths and alleyways. It has 24 spacious and shaded pitches, and 9 rentals available.

It’s true to say that the campsite has some great things going for it: there’s a new indoor swimming pool, open throughout each day, with a paddling pool, jacuzzi and terrace. Les Tonnelles beach, with its natural sandy dunes is just 750 metres away. The forest is even closer! You just have to cross the little road to get there, either on foot or by bike.

It’s location, so close to the Vélodyssée cycling route, means it’s ideal for those on cycling holidays. You can benefit from special rates and services for cyclists, thanks to their Accueil Vélo label, and be assured of a good night’s sleep.

Working and living in such a natural setting, it seemed logical to Thierry and Marie-Cécile to be part of the "Engagé pour une Destination Durable" project which aims to promote sustainable tourism. Children will love watching the home-made insect hotels which are installed on the campsite – unless of course they can’t resist the temptation to go and have fun in the playground or play a game of boules with granny and grandpa on the "pétanque" pitch...

You’ll find good takeaway meals at "Chez JP et Fanfan", just next to the campsite and open until 11 p.m. in July and August. There’s no need to use your car to find the basic necessities as there are shops close by in Les Tonnelles. Why not take advantage of the "La Littorale" shuttle bus in the summer to explore the Pays de Saint Jean de Monts? The bus stop is just by the campsite.
